West Chester Vision Committee and Strategic Plan

West Chester Strategic Plan

Looking Toward the Future in West Chester Township

The West Chester Vision Committee will look forward toward what our community we want to be in the next 30 years.  The committee was established in the 1990s and looked forward, seeing the growth through the I75 corridor and stewarded the creation of Union Centre.  This revamped committee being established in May 2019, will look forward to the next 30 years. The committee will seek input from residents for concerns, priorities, and suggestions.  This process starts with a general resident survey being sent via mail, email and social media.  Identifying residents’ concerns and suggestions is vital to create and maximize our resources for an amazing community together.

The Township’s first step toward developing our new vision plan was starting with a Strategic Plan. This plan was a government focused - giving goals to the Township staff. Looking at projects they want to accomplish to make the township operations lean and efficient.

The Vision Committee will be driven by our citizens. Asking for input about what residents and business want to see in the future. Our first Vision Plan was done in 1993. In 2006, the Township wrote a 2025 Vision. This vision served the township very well. It looked forward to see the needs over the past 13 years.

The Preamble from 2006 Vision Plan

Since the first twenty-year vision plan was adopted in 1993, West Chester has undergone a significant transformation h1to a community that is recognized as one of the finest places to live in the United States.

During the next 20 years, it is forecast that our population will grow to nearly 80,000 with our land almost entirely developed. West Chester will be reaching its "critical mass." It is our vision to channel growth, mature and develop as a vibrant community, ensure our ongoing sustainability, and continue to be a respected community where families grow and businesses prosper.

We have limited resources yet unlimited vision and spirit. The next 20 years represent our greatest opportunity to build a lasting infrastructure and quality services that are affordable for all our citizens.
